Eligibility:
Graduating High School Seniors intending to further their education by attending a public community/junior college. This is for a four-year educational path. Seeking students who attend Clarkston High School and favoring a student with a commitment to their community and charity.

Scholarships available: One (1) @ $1500.00

Major: Open to all Majors

Minimum GPA: Minimum 2.0 GPA

Essay: An Essay is requested from all applicants

Financial Need: Please explain your need in the application

Selection Process:
The Elwin Brown Masonic Education Scholarships will be awarded to well-rounded students who are involved in extra-curricular activities and work or volunteer their time in service to their community. The activities supporting the local communities will receive priority.
Cedar #60 is an active Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. Candidates who have Masonic affiliation or family relation to a member of the Masonic Fraternity will be given some degree of special consideration but this is not a requirement.

        • SAT and/or ACT scores
        • Official High School Transcripts
        • Documentation of any Community Service
        • Letters of Recommendation

Elwin “John” R. Brown December 20, 1942 – August 10, 2015

Elwin R. “John” Brown of Sterling Heights; formerly of Waterford; Passed August 10, 2015 at the age of 72. He was a husband of Betty; father of Chris (Kim) Brown & Sally (Paul) Crider; stepfather of Janeen (Chuck) Rice; also survived by many grandchildren & great grandchildren; brother of Frank Brown. John retired from General Motors. He was an active member of Cedar Masonic Lodge # 60 for over 38 years and enjoyed hunting, woodworking & motorcycling. He proudly held the offices of Master of Cedar #60, Regional Grand Lecturer and the Grand Lecturer of Michigan Free & Accepted Masons. This scholarship is named in his memory in recognition for his leadership and example within our community.
